Just about any time of year. However, the most popular seasons are mid December to mid March and August to mid the end of October. This is because of the demand for Christmas and winter holidays and the summer school breaks. An increasing number of visitors are realising that June and November are ideal, benefiting from lower visitor numbers.
Love and Dove Africa offers some safaris with greatly reduced or no single supplements in the months of April and May. Also, we may well be able to offer some good discounts for larger groups during this period - please contact us for details.
The millions of wildebeest and zebras are always somewhere, but they are not always in large herds and on the move. Their location is largely dependent on the weather, which can vary considerably from year to year. In general the herds begin to cross into Masai Mara in July and continue through August. They remain in the region until the beginning of December when they follow the rains southward back into Serengeti National Park.
They can move in enormously long single file lines or in huge herds
Yes. All safaris can be booked with the exclusive use of a vehicle for your party. A custom safari for two clients is significantly more expensive per person than seats on a similar small group safari. However, on a custom safari with an exclusive vehicle, the cost of the vehicle and driver/ guide are divided by the number of clients sharing the vehicle. Therefore, the per person cost of a custom safari reduces the more clients that are sharing the vehicle (maximum in one vehicle is usually 7 but on request, such as for families with children, we can carry up to 8).
If you are arranging an exclusive vehicle & custom safari, then you are free to arrange whatever itinerary you choose, within logistical constraints. Love and Dove Africa presents a small selection of proven itinerary favourites in this website. We can arrange any required itinerary subject to practical and logistical considerations and will be pleased to discuss and quote for your special requirements.
A safari is a wonderful trip for any child old enough to enjoy and appreciate the experience. On most safaris there are quite long trips on rough roads, and these cannot really be recommended for babies and very young children.
Children under 12 will benefit from reduced fares on scheduled airlines, and many lodges will provide an additional bed for a child sharing a room with parents at a reduced cost. Most Lodges have large rooms with two double beds as standard. Some luxury small capacity tented camps do not allow children younger than 12 years old.
We use 7 -seater custom safari minibuses & Landcruisers with pop-up roof ideal for game viewing and sight seeing. The vehicles are fitted with HF long range radios for easy communication and are well maintained to provide the maximum level of comfort and safety. In addition to the above, all our vehicles are fully equipped with cool-boxes and first aid kits.
All our safari drivers are trained tour guides, friendly, experienced, knowledgeable and are committed to ensuring clients’ satisfaction.
We recommend that our clients take up temporary membership with Flying Doctor’s Services at US$25 to US$50 depending on the radius (we shall advise). All our vehicles are fitted with two way radios for easy and regular commuinication with the driver/guides and the head office. This gives our clients extra peace of mind for we shall swing into action should any eventuality arise.
For wildlife photography, a 200 mm zoom lens is the smallest that you should use, A 300-400 zoom is preferable. For bird-watchers, a 500mm or larger is necessary, and a wide-angle lens would be ideal for scenic shots. Bring extra camera and flash batteries and plenty of film – you may find these quite expensive and difficult to obtain locally.
Because we have the knowledge, experience & commitment to make your safari a lifetime experience! Comments from our past clients bear us witness. Incase you would like to communicate with some of these past clients, please request for e-mail/telephone contacts.
